snow in Portland...

It snowed pretty good here in Portland today. Just a couple of inches, basically barely enough to get out there with a sled and have some fun. Sharon and I went up to Mt. Tabor (an extinct volcano; not to be confused with dormant volcanoes like Mt. St. Helens or some of the other large mountains around here, which still have the possibility to erupt. Mt. Tabor just looks like a good-sized hill and apparently couldn't conceivably erupt, or at least hopefully not...), which is just a short walk from Sharon's house here in southeast Portland. This first video is of the snow right around Sharon's house, and includes a tour of her place:

Portland sunset

Here's a short video of the amazing sunset here in Portland last week (wish I'd been able to get a better view of it, than while driving in the middle of town....) The best view of it is at the end:

videos of Breitenbush hot springs

Last week I had a couple of unexpected days off from work, and so went out to Breitenbush hot springs again. However, not to be confused with Bagby hot springs, where I went with my friend Sharon the previous week (and the videos from that daytrip are confusingly right after these videos). Instead, I was last at Breitenbush about two weeks ago, right after I got back to Oregon from Canada. Bagby is a rustic, free hot spring that you hike out to; whereas Breitenbush is essentially a retreat center where you have to make reservations, and can stay overnight in their cabins for a chunk of change. But I felt like a couple of days of rest and relaxation before jumping headlong into the work thing would be good, so I went out there (about two hours southeast of Portland) for two nights and did pretty much a whole lot of nothing:
