skiing at Teacup Lake, near Mt. Hood

Skiing on a super sunny day with some curious birds (the following photos and videos are from about three weeks prior to the more recent ones above, and in a different location):

skiing at Lake Tahoe

Following are a bunch of photos and videos from cross country skiing with my dad and brother in the Lake Tahoe, California area. We skied at two different cross country resorts under completely different conditions. The first place we went to had a much smaller network of ski trails, not enough snow, and it was brilliantly sunny. Two days later we went to another place that had much more trails than you could ski in a day, tons of great snow, and we were in the middle of a virtual blizzard. Both days were a lot of fun, but I definitely preferred the blizzard, and was wishing we could have stuck around for a few more days, since that storm was supposed to dump 6 feet of snow on the area over the next three days. But at least we got a good taste of it...(these first pictures are of the sunny day at the smaller resort):

As you can see, snow conditions here weren't exactly ideal. But at least it was sunny and we had a great time...

This one is pretty hilarious. We were trying to take a picture of the three of us using the timer, but didn't realize that the camera was still in video mode:

A nice view of some of the drive from Lake Tahoe back to Reno after skiing. This is near Mt. Rose, back in Nevada, which has a downhill ski resort on it that's the closest one to the city of Reno.

skiing at Royal Gorge

Following are photos and videos from Royal Gorge, the largest cross country ski resort in the U.S., where we went on Sunday. As you can see, it was slightly different conditions from the skiing two days before:

Here I am cruising down a hill...

At the end of our ski day, and it's still coming down hard. When we got back to our car there was about 8 inches of snow covering it, and we'd only been gone about 4 hours.
