Skiing, again

Went skiing yet again on Mt. Hood yesterday, the weekly tradition. As you can see by this photo, the snow is definitely starting to melt, not sure how much longer I'll get to ski up there. Supposedly you can ski on Mt. Hood year round (or at least through most of the summer) because of the glaciers, but I'm not sure if what I've been skiing on is a glacier. I guess I'll find out when I see if it melts.

more skiing videos

Here are a few more videos from cross country skiing again up on Mt. Hood. This time I went up the downhill ski slopes at Timberline Lodge, and got great views both looking down and also of the peak (or at least pretty close to the peak) of the mountain. Mt. Hood is 11,249 feet tall, and where I was at (near the top of one of the ski lifts) was probably around 8,000 feet. I don't think I'll be attempting that last 3,000 feet, it's supposedly kind of difficult!

This was actually a week earlier than all the other Mt. Hood photos above...

cross country skiing

Cross country skiing again, at a spot I went to once before, several weeks ago. This time I had a little better luck with the clouds getting out of the way of Mt. Hood:

After skiing, I decided to head up to Timberline Lodge right on Mt. Hood and check out the view. It was pretty awesome in all directions. And since it was higher up in elevation the snow was much better. Next time I want to go cross country I'll think about just heading up here, since it's starting to melt off in the lower places at this point. This might not have been my last skiing of the season after all:
